Awkwafina

Awkwafina began as a American musician and rapper releasing sly tracks that tackled questions of race and sexual identity with a comedic twist. In the years before she stepped to Hollywood, she could make a few songs. Nora Lum was born to Chinese Koreans living from Forest Hills Queens. Her first exposure to music was through the instrument of trumpet. Later, she began traditional and hip-hop training. While in college, she took classes in the field of women's studies and journalism. In addition, she spent a short time studying Mandarin during her time in Beijing. Following graduation, she decided to pursue music as her main focus. The track My Vag, a response track to Mickey Avalon's My Dick gained viral popularity via the Internet in 2012. The track was later included in her debut album Yellow Ranger released in 2014. It also included other viral hits like the body-positive Queef and winking hometown tour NYC Bitche$1. The second track linked into Awkwafina's NYC Travel Guide published in 2015, which was a different project. Apart from being a published author as well, she also worked as a singer. Aside from early TV shows such as Girl Code and Tawk, she has also been featured in movies including Neighbors2Storks and Bad Rap. In 2018, her breakthrough role was in Dude Ocean's 8 along with Crazy Rich Asians. Then in June, she launched the EP In Fina We Trust.
