In The Ring Two, Rachel is forced to research the story of Samara Morgan after her son becomes sick with an unknown ailment.In The Ring, Rachel Keller, an investigative journalist who is requested by her sister Ruth to investigate the enigmatic circumstances that led to Katie's death. Rachel is informed by Ruth, her sister, that she has discovered Katie's damaged body inside the closet. She also revealed that Katie died from a heart attack. Katie's friends inform Rachel about the myth surrounding the tape with the curse and the story of how Katie's friend Becca was confined to an institution after seeing Katie's demise. Katie's boyfriend, as well as two of her friends died in strange accidents the same night , at 10 at night. Rachel journeys to Shelter Mountain Inn, where she is in Cabin 12. This is the cabin one in which Katie and her companions saw the tape that was cursed. Rachel is able to find the tape, and plays the tape. The phone rings. Rachel hears a voice utter "seven days". Rachel is identified as Noah Clay as a video analyst by her ex-boyfriend. Rachel learns later that Aidan Noah's son watched the tape, as Noah called her. He informs Rachel that he believes Rachel. Rachel investigates the lighthouse on the tape and finds out that it was located in Moesko Island, the home of a horse breeder who was ill-fated known as Anna Morgan, who appeared on the videotape that was cursed. Rachel found out that Anna had an adopted child named Samara who could cause disturbing images into the minds and bodies of animals, humans as well as objects. Rachel is forced to leave Anna's widower Richard when she starts asking questions regarding Samara.
